Heather Martin Sings To Brother - Come Home

Heather Martin Sings to Brother Shaun Martin
.
.
Lyrics

You were almost sixteen when I came into the world.
Mom and Dad had you first then three more boys I'm the baby girl.
I sure have a lot to look up to in you, you're really smart and funny with a big heart too.
After one year of college you knew what you had to do.
It's just like you wanting to help with the war.
So you joined the army when I was only Four.
This time of year we talk of big plans but you're over seas in some distant land.
You can't be here for Christmas, I don't understand.
.
.
Chorus

When are you coming home, Shaun?
When are you coming home?!
We lit up the house like we always do but it doesn't seem bright because we can't have you.
In my prayers I ask God to keep you safe.
And I'm trying to be really brave.
Tell me that the fighting is through.
Come home!
I really miss you.
.
.
Refrain

It's hard to enjoy the holidays without you.
But we're so proud of you and all the red white and blue.
Remember that Jesus is your best friend,
And someday our families will be together again.
Wow!
You know we'll have a great big party then.
.
C

I want to show you how tall I've grown and introduce you to my new friends at school.
Maybe we could go and get some ice cream together but I really don't care what we do.

About The Video

Found this video on YouTube. In it little Heather Martin sings a song which mother Cindy Martin wrote. Cindy plays the piano off camera. Heather's older brother joined the army, and is in Iraq. Cindy, and Heather worked on the song as a way of dealing with the grief which they both felt over not having their loved one back for the Holiday. The song is written from Heather's point of view. You'll notice that at the very beginning of the song Heather prepares herself by rubbing the tears out of her eyes. In an interview she, and her mother, stated that it was hard to sing the song without crying.

I don't really see this video as political. It's both cute, and real tear jerker. I oppose the war in Iraq, but I have nothing but praise for our brave men, and women in uniform. Yes, come home!

WARNING: If you look for this video on YouTube don't read the comments section! In the minds of at least some of those who have viewed it they believe that it lends support to the "enemy", and have left many hateful comments about this little girl, and her mother.

its too bad that people dont realize that you can be against the war but support the troops. i think its easy for people to forget that under those uniforms, they are brothers, moms, teachers, nurses, artists, etc. not the machines they show in the news.
